Petr Sosík (b. September 19, 1967) is an associate professor of computer science at the Faculty of Philosophy and Science, Silesian University in Opava, Czech Republic.

He received his Ph.D. (1997) in computer science from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. His professional experience includes research visits at Canadian and European universities, as well as commercial software projects at the beginning of his career.

His scientific work has been recognized with awards at various conferences in the research areas of formal languages and applications, discrete mathematics, molecular and natural computing, and bioinformatics.
