Vocabulary is often field-specific. E.g. "Language" means something different in computer science and linguistics.

When there is a possibility that the names of scholarly articles might conflict, the following policy applies.

If X is the name of the topic under discussion, and Y is the relevant field, then

    Proposal 1a

    X (Y)

    • Advantages
      • Similar to Wikipedia
    • Disadvantages
      • May be in appropriate for a stand-alone article title

    Proposal 1b

    X (Y)

... but "(Y)" for citation purposes, "(Y)" is dropped.

    • Advantages
      • Similar to Wikipedia
      • Clean-looking citation
    • Disadvantages
      • Potentially ambiguous citations

    Proposal 2

    X in Y

    • Advantages
      • Likely to look better as a stand-alone citation
    • Disadvantages
      • Wordy
      • Could be confusing when an article title would have an "in" within it for other reasons.
