Panel A shows orienting turns produced when deflecting sensory hairs in unilateral rostral and caudal regions. Simultaneous deflection produces an intermediate response indicative of a neuronal averaging computation. Panel B shows orienting turns elicited by stimulating sensory hairs bilaterally in the rostral plane.
