Model of visual search based on Itti and Koch (2001). Visual input reaches the retina and attentional processes create a saliency-based feature map. Items in the visual array are initially selected via a winner-take-all mechanism. Rejected items are tagged by by IOR until the target item (i.e., the first author of this paper) is selected.
